IE Registrars (Waiving domain fees)
Free .ie Domains for Registered Charities
The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) offers all Charities who are registered with the Irish Revenue Commissioners free .ie domain names. A domain name is essentially the Internet equivalent of a postal address. The .ie extension is Ireland's identity on the Internet, whereas .fr is France's and .nl represents the Netherlands presence etc.
If you are a Registered Charity or you are applying for a domain name on behalf of a Registered Charity please include the Registered Charity Number (eg: CHY 1234) in the remarks field of the application form.
We recommend that you to make your application through one of the approved IE Registrars. A number of these IE Registrars (listed above) have agreed to waive the registration and renewal fees for .ie domain names. These IE Registrars can also provide the necessary hosting information to complete your application.
If you wish to submit the application directly to us, and you have obtained the necessary hosting information, we will be very happy to accommodate you.*
There are 3 steps to registration for charities applying for .ie Domain Names:
1. Make sure your chosen Domain Name is available by checking our WHOIS search facilities.
2. Arrange Domain Name hosting through one of the listed IE Registrars.
3. Submit an on-line Application to your chosen IE Registrar or directly to the IE Domain Registry Limited.
A member of our Registration Services team will be in touch either indicating acceptance or detailing any problems with the application.
NB - Domain Name registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
*Please note you will be required to submit credit card details in order to complete your application. This payment is a security precaution and will NOT be deducted from the credit card holder's account if the registered charity number is included in the application.
