Deletions PDF Print E-mail

Removal of a domain from the IE zone is non-reversible so therefore send the deletion request with care.

When a domain is deleted it becomes available for registration to another party on a first come, first served basis.

The reasons you would delete a domain name include:

  • You are no longer eligible to hold the name (e.g. your company is dissolved).
  • You can no longer pay for the name.
  • It is no longer required.

Deletion requests will only be accepted in the following format:

Authorisation must be received in the form of a signed document (headed if applicable) stating that you wish the domain name to be deleted.

The current Administrative Contact must sign the document.

The document can be sent to your Registrar or to the Registry (cc your Registrar) via one of the following options:

  • fax (01-2300365);
  • scanned attachment ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or
  • post to IE Domain Registry, Harbour Square, 4th Floor, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.

The On-line Deletion form can be completed to activate a deletion. However authorisation from the Administrative Contact must still be submitted in a document.

A member of our Registration Services team will be in touch within 2 working days either indicating acceptance or detailing any problems with the deletion request.
